Ever stepped into a bathroom, flipped on the heater, and felt like you were staring directly into the sun? Most of those lamps use short-wave infrared to get you warm fast. But the downside is that standard halogen tubes pump out way too much visible light and UV spikes. It’s jarring. And if you’ve got a baby in the house—whose eyes are way more sensitive than ours—that glare isn’t just annoying; it’s actually stressful for them.
Fixing the Light, Keeping the Heat
We figured out a way to shift how the light works. By using specific quartz envelopes and internal coatings, we can basically “block” those harsh blue-light peaks. The heat still gets through—because that’s what we want—but the blinding brightness doesn’t. You get all the warmth your body needs without the “deer in the headlights” feeling. It’s just a softer, kinder kind of light.
The Balancing Act
Here’s the tricky part: if you just turn down the temperature of the filament to stop the glare, you lose your heat. Nobody wants a “gentle” heater that doesn’t actually warm the room. So, we changed the shape of the reflector. We use a high-precision parabolic mirror to aim those IR rays exactly where they need to go. It means you get a concentrated blast of warmth on your skin, so we don’t have to crank the lamp up to a brightness that hurts your eyes.
Setting It Up
Most of these are simple drop-in replacements. You just pop them into your existing fixtures—usually with those R7s snap-in connectors. One quick heads-up: even though the light is easier on the eyes, that quartz tube still getsstinking hot. Make sure your housing is made of heat-resistant materials so nothing starts warping. And a pro tip? Keep the mirrors clean. If dust builds up on the reflector, the beam gets messy and you lose efficiency. A quick wipe-down keeps the heat hitting you right where you want it.
